Antirrhinum 'Lucky Lips' Seeds
If you find single-colour snapdragons a little plain, 'Lucky Lips' is the cure. This Fleuroselect award-winning variety produces crisp, snowy white blooms with a bold, glowing purple-magenta "mouth."
The contrast is striking, looking almost as if the flower has applied a vivid shade of lipstick. It grows on sturdy, upright stems that reach around 60cm, making it perfect for the middle of a border or as a long-lasting cut flower. It brings a fresh, modern twist to the cottage garden, mixing the nostalgia of a traditional "snapping" flower with a designer colour palette.

🌿 Understanding the Plant
This is a Half-Hardy Annual.
It is an open-pollinated variety (not an F1 hybrid), but it has been bred for uniformity and performance. Unlike some modern "butterfly" types, 'Lucky Lips' retains the classic closed mouth shape that children love to pinch to make it "talk."
The "Lip" Trick: The purple lip acts as a landing strip, guiding bumblebees directly to the pollen. Watching a chubby bee force its way into the flower is one of the joys of summer.
🌱 Growing Guide: How to Sow and Grow
Snapdragons need light to germinate, so don't bury them!
Germination:
Sow indoors from January to March for summer flowers, or August/September for early flowers next year. Surface sow onto moist compost and do not cover (or use a tiny dusting of vermiculite). Keep warm (20-22°C). Germination takes 10-14 days.
Where to Sow:
Plant out after the last frost. They love **full sun**. They are tough plants once established and will often flower right through until November if the weather is mild.
Care While Growing:
Pinch: When the seedling is about 10cm tall, pinch out the growing tip. This encourages the plant to branch out, giving you 5-6 flower spikes instead of just one.

🤝 Perfect Garden Companions
The purple and white theme makes 'Lucky Lips' easy to pair:
- 💜 Salvia viridis 'Oxford Blue': The Purple Echo. The deep purple bracts of this Salvia pick up the magenta lip of the Snapdragon perfectly, creating a cohesive, cool-toned border.
- ☁️ Cosmos 'Purity': The White Backdrop. The large white daisies of Cosmos provide a clean, fresh background that makes the bicolour snapdragons pop.

⚠️ Vase Life Tip
Snapdragons are geotropic—if you lay them flat after cutting, the tips will curl upwards within hours! Keep them upright in a bucket of water immediately after cutting to keep the stems straight.
🏆 Officially Recognised Excellence
This variety is a Fleuroselect Novelty Award Winner, recognized for its unique bicolour pattern and outstanding garden performance compared to standard snapdragons.
