If standard Cosmos are elegant simplicity, 'Fizzy Rose' is the party outfit. This spectacular variety produces large, semi-double flowers with extra rows of petals, giving them a full, fluffy appearance.
The colouring is exquisite: a base of pure white edged with a jagged, irregular margin of vibrant rosy-magenta. This "picotee" effect, combined with the ruffled texture, makes the flowers look like swirling dancer's skirts. Cosmos is a Half-Hardy Annual.
It originates from Mexico and loves the sun. 'Fizzy Rose' is bred for its semi-double flower form.
The "Treat Mean" Rule: Like all Cosmos, this variety flowers best when stressed slightly. Do not feed it! Rich soil or fertiliser will encourage leaves at the expense of flowers. Plant it in poor, dry soil for the best display.

Germination:
Sow indoors from March to April, or directly outdoors in May once the soil warms up. Sow seeds 5mm deep. They germinate quickly (7-14 days) at 20°C.
Where to Sow:
They need full sun. They thrive in poor, sandy, or stony soil. If you have heavy clay, add grit to improve drainage.
Care While Growing:
Pinch: When seedlings are 20cm tall, pinch out the top growing tip. This encourages the plant to branch out, creating a sturdy bush rather than a single spindly stem.
Deadhead: Snip off dead flowers weekly to keep the "fizz" coming until November.
