Linaria 'Fairy Bouquet Mix' Seeds

If you are impatient for flowers, Linaria is your best friend. Often called "Baby Snapdragons" or "Toadflax," these charming little plants produce upright spikes densely packed with tiny, spurred flowers that look exactly like miniature snapdragons.

The 'Fairy Bouquet' mix lives up to its magical name, offering a vibrant carnival of colours: neon pinks, electric purples, sunny yellows, and crisp whites, often with contrasting spots on the lip. It is a joyfully messy, low-growing plant that is perfect for filling gaps at the front of a border or creating a "meadow" look in a patio pot.

๐ŸŒฟ Understanding the Plant

Linaria is a Hardy Annual.

It completes its life cycle in one season. It is native to Morocco, so it loves the sun but handles the UK climate perfectly well.

The Speed Demon: This is one of the fastest flowers you can grow. From sowing the seed to seeing the first flower can take as little as 8-10 weeks. This makes it brilliant for children or for filling empty spots left by spring bulbs.

๐ŸŒฑ Growing Guide: How to Sow and Grow

These seeds are tiny, so mix them with a little sand to help scatter them evenly.

Germination:
Sow directly outdoors from March to May, or in Autumn (Sept) for early flowers next year. Scatter seeds onto the surface of raked soil. Do not cover deeplyโ€”they need light to germinate. Just press them down. Germination takes 7-14 days.

Where to Sow:
They prefer full sun but tolerate light shade. They thrive in light, well-drained soil. They are fantastic in gravel gardens, rockeries, or containers.

Care While Growing:
Succession Sowing: Because they flower so fast, they can finish early. Sow a small pinch of seeds every 3 weeks until June to ensure you have a constant supply of colour right through to autumn.

๐Ÿค Perfect Garden Companions

Linaria is small and dainty, so pair it with other low-growing annuals:

  • ๐ŸŒธ Virginian Stock: The Confetti Mix. Both plants are fast, low-growing, and come in shades of pink and lilac. Sow them together in cracks in paving or window boxes for an instant "meadow" look.
  • ๐ŸŒ™ Night Scented Stock: Day & Night. Linaria provides the bright colour during the day, while Night Scented Stock (which looks a bit plain) provides the perfume in the evening. A perfect sensory partnership.

๐Ÿ† Officially Recognised Excellence

Despite its tiny size, Linaria is a favourite of pollinators. The spur at the back of the flower is full of nectar, attracting long-tongued bees and butterflies.
